If you would rather not refresh a hashtag all day, several services monitor journalist requests for you. They differ enormously in price, sources and who they are built for. Here is an honest comparison.
All pricing below was checked in July 2026 and is taken from each provider’s public pricing page. Where we are not certain, we say so rather than guess.
The free options
The hashtag itself
Free, and always will be. #journorequest is a public hashtag with no owner — see what a journorequest is. The cost is your attention: nine in ten requests are irrelevant to you, and the good ones are answered within the hour.
Featured (formerly HARO)
Featured acquired HARO and retired the old brand. The free daily digest continues — several emails a day of journalist queries. Strong US coverage, weaker UK. Free tier with paid plans above it.
Source of Sources
Peter Shankman — HARO’s original founder — launched this after HARO was sold. Free daily digest, similar format to classic HARO.
Help a B2B Writer
Free, narrower, and genuinely good if you are in B2B or SaaS. Lower volume, much higher relevance for that niche.
SourceBottle
Free, long-established, strongest in Australia and the US.
The paid tools
Sourcee
Around $59/month for Pro and $97/month for Agency. Broad source coverage — 13-plus sources including newsletters, LinkedIn and Reddit — plus Slack and Discord integrations and team workspaces. The most feature-complete option, priced accordingly. See our Sourcee comparison.
PitchResponse
Manually curates journorequests from X and elsewhere, and notifies you of relevant ones. Free trial, no card required. The human curation means less noise, but also a delay — and on same-day deadlines, delay costs you.
Qwoted
A two-sided marketplace rather than a hashtag monitor: journalists post requests, sources pitch, with a free tier and paid plans. Stronger in the US, particularly in finance and tech.
ResponseSource
The UK incumbent, running a Journalist Enquiry Service since 1998. Journalists send an enquiry and it is distributed to subscribing PRs by category, with a quality-control team reviewing each one. Enterprise-oriented pricing on application — considerably more than the tools above. Aimed at agencies and in-house comms teams rather than individuals.
Choosing
| If you are… | Start with |
|---|---|
| Testing whether this works at all | The free newsletters plus the hashtag |
| A B2B or SaaS founder | Help a B2B Writer, free |
| A solo founder or consultant who wants speed | A real-time monitor — the hour matters more than the breadth |
| An agency handling many clients | Sourcee or ResponseSource, for workspaces and volume |
| US-focused | Featured or Qwoted |
| UK-focused | The hashtag is UK-origin and still UK-dominated |
What actually matters when choosing
- Speed. Journalists take the first usable answer. A daily digest arrives after the good requests have been answered. Real-time beats comprehensive.
- Filtering. Volume without filtering is just a second inbox. Keyword matching that works is worth more than an extra source.
- Sources that are alive. Several tools still advertise coverage of hashtags that produce zero requests.
- Price against realistic outcomes. One placement in a national title can justify a year of any of these. Nothing justifies paying for a feed you never read.
